There are many problems in our world. We won't have the time to count all of it because when you count some, some more problems will occur to our world. According to The United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), for which UNESCO is the lead agency, seeks to integrate the principles, values, and practices of sustainable development into all aspects of education and learning, in order to address the social, economic, cultural and environmental problems we face in the 21st century.
It is the reason we concentrate on the problems which if it's possible to be solved, it can make the sustainable development to the world.
We all know the facts that our planet has many resources which can help us to solve some problems. We have a lot of resources but have we use it properly and efficiently? To reach the utilization of it? The resource that we focus on is "Water resource". In Thailand, we have flood in the raining season but we find drought in the dry season, same year. Years by years that we face it, is it possible for us to make it better?
Next issue that we ( and all the people in this world) concerned is "Carbon dioxide emission", everyone focus on it but do they notice that 20% of all Carbon dioxide emission in this world comes from the coal and petrochemical electricity plants. Yes! the plants that generate electricity that give you warm during winter, light during night time, enjoy with football games in Saturday night. 5.9 Billions Tons of Carbon dioxide emission was emitted from those plants (If you can't imagine how much is it, 1ton equal to 1 Olympic size swimming pool!!!) This is not a small size at all, can we reduce using it? Is there any alternative energy we can use to generate electricity?
Though that huge amount of Carbon dioxide emission was pollute to our world from the power plants, there still have 1.6 Billion of people around the world can't access to the electricity. There are a huge gap between people in the world society. How can provide them the electricity which is not pollute the world?
Is the problem of no electricity is the reason that make 72.1 Millions of children in the world to have no chance to study? Maybe it's not all but we are sure that there might cause on some cases. There are many sources to educate the children like internet and study via satellite for example but how these children can access to those sources without electricity?
From all those sad facts, we have got the question for our project " How can we use the water to create lights for children? "
Why don't we utilize the renewable resource like water to make the sustainable energy to the world?
